I disabled Gutenberg yesterday.

At first, it does look great, but after switching off the visual editor, it becomes a simple textarea. There isn’t even an insert media button, so I reverted everything to the old one. It should be supported for another 3 years, so I’m fine for a while.

I know Apple has the new Pro Display XDR, but there is still a place for another 27-inch display which is made for developers. I have an LG UltraFine 4K connected to my iMac and I love it, but the design is so un-Apple.

I made a lot of adjustments to my blog to use IndieWeb technologies, so in essence: I can reply, like or repost tweets, receive mentions as comments here, and update my status, all from Decoding.

This is really cool, since I can keep everything under my control, but I can participate in social services.

I hate iPhone cases but I’m going to get a leather one from Apple. I just dropped my phone on the floor and it landed on top. I was lucky, it survived it without any damage, but I got scared for a second.

I’m sorry for spamming, but I’m trying to integrate Bridgy with WordPress. This should be the last test post.

I have comments and webmentions again on my blog. It feels nice.

After months of work, I’m switching back from Jekyll to WordPress. I’m just tired of regenerating my website every time I want to post something to it.

The best: I can use MarsEdit again!

After playing around with the idea for a while, I'll switch from OmniFocus to the new Reminders app, because I'm curious how well it works as a simple GTD app. I still envy the deeper Siri/Shortcuts and iOS integration.

I've just started playing around with Shortcuts in iOS 13.

This thing is gonna be huge! ?

That moment when you dictate to your Apple Watch, press Done, and it replaces some parts of the perfectly understood text to something stupid.

You know, why not fix our piece of shit Electron thing? We could easily make a native app by hiring couple of developers. Let's make an app that respect the design of the OS, works with the built-in spell checker, don't eat all the RAM and battery in the world.

Here's our new logo, that no one asked for!

I switched over from WordPress to Jekyll.

It’s so much more portable and easier to work with (although I lost comments, but whatever…). I don’t have trackers or stats, I don’t even have JavaScript anymore.

Drafts just got a new version with WordPress integration, so I'm testing that. This feature finally clears out short status updates like this from my Ulysses library.

Do not expect new Macs on September 12th, I'm sure it's an iPhone only event.

Rumors also point to the introduction of new iPad Pros with smaller bezels, no home button, and Face ID, a revised Apple Watch with a larger display, and perhaps a new Mac mini and MacBook Air replacement.

Actually, this week's Twitter drama made me appreciate my blog more.

A reminder about what difference can be made in technology just in a couple of years apart.

I kinda like the new version of Skype for iPad. Their macOS version is still crap, so I hope they’ll adopt something nicer with Martzipan and the current iPad app.

Colin Walker brought up yesterday the idea of using your website as a private repository.

This also occurred to me a couple of months ago when I searched a better alternative for Day One. This blog which runs on WordPress looked great for a private journal, but I didn't find anything that would migrate my entries from Day One, so I created a script for myself. I've open sourced it on GitHub so anybody with a little bit a terminal knowledge should be able to use it.

Before you ask: I still use Day One with encryption turned on. When I reasearched the topic of private posts using WordPress I found a couple of security concerns which I've also shared on Colin's blog. But after last week's Day One security fiasco, maybe it's something that I should reconsider.

According to GDPR, from May 25th I can't talk to myself alone without agreeing my privacy policy first.

Testing Icro:

  • It feels better than the official Micro.blog app.
  • Notifications would be nice.
  • The iPad app needs a lot of work.
  • No Markdown parsing feels weird.

It's okay for 1.0, but I'm keeping the official one installed since I don't keep up with my timeline but (silent) notifications are nice to have.
