Things already got a great URL scheme which can be used for automation. On the Mac, we can take automation to the next level with things.sh which is a Terminal interface for reading (and writing) Things’ database. Really awesome for somebody like me, who spends his day in vim and tmux.

I really like BazQux Reader lately. It can add even userfeeds from Twitter—which is really hard to do since Twitter removed RSS—so I’ve made a workflow which helps me subscribe to accounts from Twitter or Micro.blog. This way, I can follow everything in one app.

I'm just thinking about why iCloud Keychain still doesn't support generating two-factor authentication codes as 1Password does? This is exactly what Apple should design as user friendly as it can.

The great thing about blogging is that I can grab my iPad and start rambling about a topic which then turns into an idea I want to do. So, I publish the raw post (sometimes privately) and then send its link to my inbox to review later.

I just love to do this!

It took about 2 years with big changes in my diet, but I’m finally down from 107 kilos to 89.8! It’s still not my desired goal of 80, but it’s a big milestone.

Somehow I always get bored with almost every project after working on it for a couple of days. I need one or two days of slacking just to get my initial motivation back.

I'm testing the new beta of Drafts 5. Man I love this app.

I did the obvious thing: there is a big Subscribe button in the header with the classic RSS glyph. Some people know what to do with it, well, others don't. It's still better than writing manuals about how to subscribe to RSS.

I'm not sure how we could solve this, but I remember it was a problem with indie blogs back in 2007 as well.

I've migrated my site from Jekyll back to WordPress (it was fairly easy actually). I was missing all the great integrations of WordPress after using Jekyll for a couple of weeks. Now I can easily write again without pushing stuff to git repos.

I’ve just deleted Viber from my phone. It annoys me with stupid notifications about stickers and I can’t turn it off. I could turn off Viber notifications completely, but that’s not that useful for a messaging app. I wanted to use it as a Facebook Messenger replacement, but it’s worse.

Don't want your Mac to go to sleep? You can type caffeinate -t 3600 into Terminal to keep it awake for an hour or 7200 for 2 hours etc.

I removed Google Analytics from my websites. Since I use 1Blocker to stop trackers following me around on the web, I don't want to be a hypocrite by also having trackers on my site. Now I don't even have JavaScript here other than for TypeKit where my webfonts are loaded from.

Just finished adding "icons" for Decoding last week. Safari uses at least 3 type of icons on macOS and iOS together:

1. one for pinned sites and web clips on your iOS home screen
2. one for pinned tabs (which is an SVG by the way)
3. and the usual favicon.ico.

And this is just Safari, I don't have icons for Windows or any other browser for that matter. Somebody should really provide a better way to deal with all that crap.

After weeks of messing around with Swift Playgrounds, I'm ready to deep dive into a new iOS project. Although using my iPad for learning Swift made want Xcode more for iOS.

I still use RSS as a way to get my daily dose of content. It’s fast, convenient, and there are a lot of nice paid alternatives from small indie developers since Google Reader was killed.

I’ve got so sick of Twitter in the last couple of months. Let’s see, maybe Micro.blog will be better as a community.
