Yeah, Things is way better at this.

If you think about it, a recurring task is just a cue for something, which you can use to set up additional projects or next actions.

There are two types of “recurring” actions in my world that can be managed with Reminders the following way:

  1. Actions with due dates like “Pay the rent every month”, or “Invoice the client every two weeks”.
    • I would keep these in the Tickler File list since they are related to time and not necessary to contexts.
    • You can then check these off in the Today view.
  2. The other type is more about maintenance actions. For example, it is a good idea to “Check the oil level in the car” or “Make an offsite backup” every once in a while.
    • You could create a separate “Maintenance” checklist for these and review them occasionally in your Weekly Review.
    • If you want to do any of them, just duplicate it and move it to your contexts list.
    • You could even create a recurring reminder in your Tickler File to review the Maintenance list every week or two.
      • Select the Maintenance list and tell Siri, “Remind me about this every week on my Tickler File”.
      • Siri gonna create a new reminder with a link to the Maintenance list.
